Barry Kerr

Barry Kerr
Originally from the southern shores of Lough Neagh, and currently based in West Belfast. Barry is a Self-taught artist, heavily influenced by modern Irish painters such as J.B.Vallely, John Lavery and Paul Henry.

Barry is regarded as one of the outstanding traditional musicians of his generation and has transferred his passion from reed to brush to create powerful portrayals of Irish Life.

Between gigging and recording commitments Barry focuses his attention on his other skills; Painting and Sculpting. Using the medium of oils or acrylics on canvas he portrays characters from The Irish Musical Tradition to Sporting Heroes. His paintings have an earthy quality, which cut through the stereotypical nostalgia often associated with these subject matters.
